WHAT IS THE KMCA?

Established on October 7, 1976, the Kentucky Municipal Clerks Association (KMCA) is a professional organization dedicated to developing trust in municipal government. It provides opportunities for education, professional development, personal growth, and leadership. The KMCA encourages new and innovative ideas to enable members to fulfill and discharge their official duties for promoting the office of the Kentucky Municipal Clerk.

The next KMCA Membership Meeting will be held on Thursday, July 31 at 5pm during the annual KMCI-MMCA in Lexington. You do not need to be a paid registrant to attend the membership meeting.

Remember to login and sign up for the RSS (Really Simple Syndication) under the Forum tab. You can ask questions and receive answers from city clerks all over Kentucky. You can also assist other city clerks by answering their questions---all on this website.  Register today and become a part of our professional association. Together we can make a difference!

KMCI & MMCA REMINDERS/MATERIALS
Below is the Alternative Learning Credit assignment (click on the links). 
 
 
 
 
KMCI and MMCA participants will receive 3 hours of credit for reading and answering the questions. Short answers and bullet points are encouraged.   
 
Here are some additional reminders:
 
·        IMPORTANT:  This is a mandatory assignment for KMCI attendees in order for receive to get 40 hours of credit and graduate on time.  This is an optional assignment for MMCA attendees.
·        Deadline to submit is 1:30 p.m. on August 1.  Please turn in onsite at the training or send to lschwendeman@klc.org.  Early papers are encouraged!
·        The Alternative Learning Credit is a pass/fail assignment.  No letter grades will be given.  Clerks will be contacted in the event that did not pass and given one chance to resubmit, but otherwise clerks should assume they passed and the credits will be on their transcript.  No late papers will be accepted.
·        Other Friendly reminders: 
o   The hotel reservation deadline is July 19
o   Clerks can obtain extra credits this year on Wednesday night.  See attached brochure.
o   The KMCA banquet is now on Friday afternoon at lunch.  Attendance is required to receive one hour of credit.

Kentucky Municipal Clerks Institute (KMCI) 
July 28 - August 1, 2014
Clarion of Lexington 

Commonly referred to as "the Institute," this program is designed to allow participants to complete 120 hours of training in a three-year cycle.  Attendees can enter in any year.  This session features 40 hours of training on the role of the city clerk, human resources, financial management, time management, stress management and more.

Master Municipal Clerks Academy (MMCA) 
July 30 - August 1, 2014
Clarion of Lexington

The Academy includes more than 20 hours of advanced continuing education on team building, the Affordable Care Act, social media, classification and other complex municipal topics.  View the complete agenda here.

Hotel Accommodations

KMCI and MMCA will be held at the Clarion of Lexington.  Contact the hotel at 859.233.0512 for the special rate of $94 per night single/double room and includes breakfast.  Please ask for the Kentucky League of Cities room block.  The deadline to reserve a hotel room is July 18, 2014. This rate will not be available after the deadline.
