The Following Chapter Reports were offered for the KMCA Membership Meeting held on April 15, 2009 during Spring Conference at KY Dam Village.
BARREN RIVER – ANGELA SWINNEY BRMCA continues to meet bi-monthly. We have recently had an outreach meeting with the Dept. for Local Govt. at the BRADD offices in Bowling Green. We are also looking into possibly having another clerk’s retreat with some type of training.
BLUEGRASS– SUSAN LAMB The Bluegrass, Buffalo Trace& Gateway Clerks are concentrating on visiting city clerks in our regions that have not attended our meetings and/or cities that have never hosted a Clerks Meeting. We are still meeting every other month, rotating the chair responsibility between all three Directors. We have had six out of 13 city clerks so far to respond to and agree to host a Clerks Meeting. We are asking the hosting city clerks to arrange a speaker topic and speaker to allow them to be a part of the process and hope to encourage their involvement in the future with our associations.
BUFFALO TRACE – JOY ROARK The Buffalo Trace clerks are still meeting with the Bluegrass and Gateway clerks. Due to budget constraints we are meeting every other month now and our focus has been on visiting different cities within our regions that have not been participating for whatever reason. We’ve found that there are several who have limited office staff, a lack of funding, and unfortunately some who have no support from their mayor/council. In an effort to reach out to other clerks in our regions we have taken our meetings ‘on the road’. Last year we visited with the City of Augusta and were well received. Bill Mineer, Finance Officer with the BTADD, provided our training. A tentative schedule is already in place for 2009 and we still have a long list of cities to contact for 2010.
