New Scholarship Available

At the KMCA Membership Meeting held in Louisville in October of 2008 President Batliner announced exciting news about funding for scholarships for KMCI.  If your city has KLCIS property and liability insurance, you may apply for a schoarship to attend the Institute.  The application deadline for scholarships for the 2009 Institute is May 31, 2009.  To find more information click here or contact the KMCA President.

SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA

On the right side of this webpage you will find a link to the KMCA Kitty Johnson Scholarship Application.  Please note that the guidelines below are used in determining scholarship recipients.  Applications must be returned by March 1.  

  1. The KMCA Board will review all applications submitted.
  2. Preference will be given to a City Clerk.
  3. Second preference will be give to an assistant City Clerk.
  4. Third preference will be given to the other personnel applying.
  5. Preference will be given to cities that show a need for financial assistance for the registration fee to attend the Institute.
  6. Recipients will be decided by majority vote of the KMCA Board.
  7. Scholarships are awarded for one year only. No commitment is made for more than one year. Applicants may apply again each year until certification is complete.
  8. The KMCA Board may refer a scholarship application that was not awarded back to the Regional Chapters for the consideration of any local scholarship.
  9. An effort will be made to distribute the scholarships throughout the State.
  10. The number of scholarships awarded will be at the discretion of the KMCA Board and available funds. 
  11. All decisions will be final.
Applications should be filled out completely. As indicated on the application, two attachments are required for consideration of your application. You must attach a copy of the balance sheet from your city’s most recent general fund audit. (In accordance with KRS 91A.040, for most cities this will be the general fund balance sheet from the audit report of the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2008; for certain sixth class cities this will be the general fund balance sheet from the audit report of the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2007.)  You must also attach a letter from your Mayor, CAO or City Manager indicating your municipality supports your attendance at the Institute.  Please be courteous by typing or clearly printing all responses, by taking the time to review your application to make sure you have answered all the questions completely, and be sure you have provided your phone number including area code.  Thank you!
