Sample Ordinances and Orders

As with any research, we strongly encourage you to seek the opinion of your city attorney.  Here are a few items that have been requested by a city clerk wanting to know what others have done.

For a Sample of a Scrap Metal Ordinance click here.

For a sample of a Chronic Nuisance Ordinance used by a 4th class city click here.

Sample of an Executive Order authorizing someone to act in the absence of the Mayor.  Please note this applies only to Mayor-Council governments and more information can be found in this article: KLC Direct May/June 2008 issue- members.klc.org/UserFiles/KLCD-08-MayJune_web.pdf .

Model Ordinances

Here are model ordinances for Occupational License Tax/Fee Standardization required by HB 107 and HB 458.

Click here if you need the ordinance to use for gross receipts collection

Click here if you need the ordinance to use for net profits collection

Remember, the changes go into effect on July 15, 2008 so it is recommended that you update your ordinance before then.  Without an update, your ordinance may contradict the changes in KRS 67.750-67.795.   If you try to enforce an outdated ordinance a law suit may follow.   Anyone who needs further information or assistance, contact your Area Development District as those offices have been provided extensive information.

Sample Policies

Anyone looking for an email, internet or computer use policy might be interested in looking over this sample.  It is from another state and may be a bit outdated but might be a good starting point.  As always, we recommend working with your City Attorney for a thorough legal review before adopting any such policies.

PLEASE BE PATIENT AND COME BACK SOON!

Coming soon!  Check back frequently, you never know what a clerk may request that we post here that may be of interest to you.  Some additional content should be posted here throughout the summer months (or as soon as we receive suggestions/submissions) and new items will be added often!  Thank you for your patience while our site is undergoing reconstruction!
