Local Government Law Center

The Chase Local Government Law Center , under the direction of Asst. Prof. of Law Phillip Sparkes, is devoted primarily to state and local government law. Based at the Salmon P. Chase College of Law on the NKU campus,  for two decades the center has been known for expertise in matters relating to local government. The center's mission is described as follows:

  • It provides technical assistance, research services, and support to local governments, their attorneys, and their elected and appointed officials.
  • It promotes the study and development of state and local government law through teaching, scholarship, and continuing education.
  • It offers student opportunities as part of the College of Law's clinical programs.
  • It serves as an information clearinghouse about local government through its newsletters and community outreach efforts.

Back issues of the newsletter from the center, "Local Government Law News", are available at the site.  Published three times a year the newsletter provides: summaries of decisions from State and US District and Appellate Courts, Opinions of the Attorney General, samples of model ordinances, and articles of interest to local governments across the Commonwealth.
